Ben Affleck Says Split With Jennifer Lopez Was ‘Drama-Free’
In an interview with GQ Magazine, Affleck got candid about his divorce from Lopez, calling it “drama-free” and emphasizing that the split wasn’t as sensational as some might expect.
The actor, who has always been private about his personal life, explained that fans’ “eyes would glaze over with boredom” if they knew all the details about their breakup.
He stated that it was “just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do.”
Affleck also made it clear that he has a deep “respect” for Lopez, noting that her documentary “Greatest Love Story Never Told” did not contribute to their separation.
The Actor Took Part In Jennifer Lopez’s Documentary To’ Love And Support’ Her
While Affleck acknowledged that he and Lopez had different approaches to public life, he participated in the project to “love and support” her, even though he has always been more reserved in the spotlight.
He also rejected the notion that their separation was filled with scandal, insisting that no singular event or cause led to their divorce.
“It sounds more like a couple’s therapy session,” Affleck reflected, revealing that the truth of their split was less dramatic and more about navigating personal challenges.
He chose not to get into specifics, as discussing them would feel “embarrassing” and too “vulnerable.”

Jennifer Lopez Reflects On Heartbreak And Healing: ‘I Have To Find Happiness Within Myself’
For her part, Lopez opened up about the emotional turmoil she experienced after her marriage with Affleck ended in a candid chat with comedian Nikki Glaser for Interview Magazine last October.
Reflecting on the experience, she described it as a time when her “whole f-cking world exploded.”
However, the “On the Floor” singer told Glaser she had learned a vital lesson: “You have to be complete if you want something that’s more complete.”
Lopez continued: “You have to be good on your own. I thought I learned that, but I didn’t. And then, this summer, I had to be like, ‘I need to go off and be on my own. I want to prove to myself that I can do that.'”
Without pointing fingers, the singer emphasized that her worth isn’t tied to a relationship.
“Being in a relationship doesn’t define me,” Lopez declared. “I can’t be looking for happiness in other people. I have to have happiness within myself.”
