WATCH: Dhruv Jurel grabs a blinder to dismiss Rishabh Pant during RR vs LSG clash in IPL 2025

The high-stakes 36th match of IPL 2025 at Jaipur saw Rajasthan Royals (RR) take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a contest crucial for both teams’ playoff ambitions. With the league stage crossing its halfway mark, every point mattered—especially for RR, languishing near the bottom of the table, and LSG, looking to solidify their top-four spot. LSG skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and, banking on his batting firepower, opted to set a target at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
Dhruv Jurel takes a screamer to dismiss Rishabh Pant
The highlight of the LSG innings came in the eighth over and it wasn’t a towering six or a searing yorker—it was Dhruv Jurel’s sensational catch that sent Pant back to the pavilion. Pant, enduring a lean run in IPL 2025, tried to break the shackles against Wanindu Hasaranga. Facing a length ball on off with extra bounce and turn, Pant attempted a reverse sweep. The shot only managed a top edge, the ball ballooning towards Jurel behind the stumps.
What followed was a heart-stopping sequence: the ball ricocheted off the grill of Jurel’s helmet, slipped through his gloves, and threatened to escape. But Jurel, showing remarkable composure and athleticism, juggled the ball three times before finally clutching it inches from the turf. The crowd erupted as Pant trudged off for just 3 off 9 balls, his struggles compounding and LSG losing their captain at a pivotal moment.

LSG post a competitive total against RR
Despite the early loss of Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran inside the powerplay, LSG managed to steady their ship. Aiden Markram was the anchor, compiling a fluent 66 off 45 balls, peppered with five boundaries and three sixes. His partnership with Ayush Badoni, who contributed a brisk 50 from 34 balls, was instrumental in rebuilding the innings after Pant’s wicket at 54/3 in the eighth over.
The Royals’ bowlers, led by Hasaranga (2/31) and supported by Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande, kept chipping away, but LSG’s middle order found ways to accelerate. Abdul Samad’s late cameo—an unbeaten 30 from just 10 balls, including four sixes—ensured LSG finished with a competitive 180/5 from their 20 overs. The innings saw a measured start (46/2 in the powerplay), a mid-innings stutter, and a strong finish, setting up a challenging chase for the Royals.
