‘There’s still a job to do’ says Slot as Reds prepare to win Premier League

Liverpool manager Arne Slot says his side still have work to do as they ready themselves to potentially win the Premier League title at home to Tottenham on Sunday.

A point from their remaining five matches will secure a 20th top-flight title win for the Reds – and a first since the 2019-20 season.

Slot said: “It’s a big responsibility. We are aware that the last time this club won the league was during the Covid time. So everybody is looking forward to Sunday.

“But we know there’s still a job to do. We need at least one point.

“That is what we know and, hopefully, what our fans know as well when they come to the stadium that they support us in the best possible way as they have done all season, but also be aware of the fact that we still need a point.

“It’s a nice game to look forward to but also a responsibility we have for Sunday.”

Slot will become the 12th manager to win the Premier League should he complete the job this weekend.

Jurgen Klopp is the only other Liverpool manager to manage it, ending a 30-year wait for the title in 2020.

But Slot says that Sunday will be tough, despite Tottenham’s poor domestic season.

He said: “There’s a game to be played against a Tottenham side who are playing for something special – not in the league but in the Europa League and they will want to prepare for it in the best possible way.

“We are only focused on the next opponent as always, and that is Tottenham now. So we will try to prepare the team same as we’ve done all season.

“Hopefully the players can bring the same energy and mentality that they’ve brought throughout the whole season.

“And we are expecting the same from the fans.”
