It was the 5th ball of the 13th over, bowled by Harshal Patel, when Brevis, who had been hammering the ball all over the park, faced a delivery outside off. The South African star lofted the ball flat and hard, aiming for another big shot. But Mendis, positioned at long-off, had other ideas.
As the ball flew towards him, Mendis, displaying remarkable athleticism and awareness, went for a full-stretch dive with both hands. The moment was a mix of skill and sheer determination, as Mendis, known for his ambidextrous ability in the field, threw himself to the side, much like a football goalkeeper diving to save a shot.
Mendis’ technique was flawless — he managed to secure the ball on the full stretch, ensuring that his elbows did not hit the ground hard, preventing the ball from popping out. Upon landing, he quickly recovered and popped up with a wide smile, celebrating the moment with sheer joy.

The SRH bench erupted in cheers as the catch was not just an athletic feat but a crucial moment in the game. Captain Pat Cummins was the first to lift Mendis in excitement, and the rest of the SRH team followed suit, patting him on the back for his extraordinary effort.
