Fans go wild as Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav guide MI to a thumping win over CSK in IPL 2025

The Wankhede Stadium witnessed a run-fest on Sunday night as Mumbai Indians (MI) produced a clinical performance to crush Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 9 wickets in Match 38 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Chasing a competitive target of 177, MI rode on the veteran duo’s batting brilliance to complete the chase in just 15.4 overs, sending their home crowd into a frenzy.

Ravindra Jadeja-Shivam Dube help CSK post a formidable total

After opting to bowl first, MI were tested by a solid middle-order recovery from CSK. While the top order failed to fire, debutant Ayush Mhatre’s sparkling 15-ball 32 provided early momentum. However, it was the experienced duo of Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja who took charge. Dube struck 50 off 32 deliveries, including four sixes, while Jadeja anchored the innings with an unbeaten 53 off 35 balls, laced with four boundaries and two sixes.

CSK finished at 176/5, a respectable total thanks to a late surge in the death overs. MI’s Jasprit Bumrah stood out with 2/25 from his four overs, while Mitchell Santner‘s 3-over spell of 1/14 was equally economical.

Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav unleash fireworks in run-chase

Rohit Sharma, under the scanner for his lukewarm season so far, bounced back in style with a vintage performance. The former MI skipper smashed 76* off just 45 balls, finding the boundary with trademark elegance. Opening partner Ryan Rickelton added a quick 24 off 19 balls to set the stage early.

But it was Suryakumar Yadav who ensured there were no hiccups. The flamboyant batter went berserk, hammering 68* off just 30 balls, including five towering sixes and six crisp boundaries. The duo added an unbeaten 120-run stand for the second wicket to take MI home with 26 balls to spare.

With this dominant win, Mumbai Indians have sent a strong message to the rest of the competition. The return to form of Rohit Sharma, combined with SKY’s sublime touch, could be the boost MI needed mid-season.
