PSL 2025: Will FanCode refund the subscription fees after stopping Pakistan Super League coverage? Here’s the refund rule

In a major development following the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Indian streaming platform FanCode has suspended its broadcast of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 in India. The suspension, which took effect from April 24, 2025, comes in the aftermath of the attack that left 26 people dead, including several Indian tourists, and was attributed to the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba.

No more streaming of PSL 2025 in India

FanCode had been streaming the PSL since the tournament’s kickoff on April 11, 2025, serving as the league’s official digital broadcaster in India. However, after the Pahalgam tragedy, the platform swiftly removed all PSL-related content from its app and website, including live matches, highlights, and match schedules. The move reflects the intensifying diplomatic fallout between India and Pakistan, which has seen a series of escalating measures such as the termination of the Indus Water Treaty and the closure of cross-border routes.

Sony Sports Network, responsible for PSL’s television broadcasts in India, has also pulled PSL programming from its channels, although an official statement regarding future coverage is still awaited.

What this means for FanCode subscribers?

The sudden halt in coverage has sparked confusion among fans who had subscribed specifically to watch the PSL. FanCode offers both match-wise and season-long subscriptions for live sports events, and many are now questioning whether they will receive refunds.

The company rule suggest that when services are discontinued due to extraordinary circumstances, companies typically refund the unused portion of subscriptions or offer equivalent credits for future use. Given that PSL content has been completely removed, subscribers are encouraged to reach out to FanCode’s helpdesk or customer support for clarification.

According to FanCode’s general terms of service, users are entitled to refunds or credits if content becomes unavailable or if streaming rights are withdrawn. Since the stoppage stems from events beyond FanCode’s control, refunds are likely to be processed on a case-by-case basis.

Specifically, subscribers who purchased the PSL 2025 Tour Pass, priced at ₹125, will reportedly receive full refunds. These refunds are expected to be processed automatically within 7-10 working days and will be credited to the original mode of payment.

PSL’s suspension in India: A big setback for PCB

The termination of PSL coverage is a significant setback for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which counted on Indian viewers for a considerable share of its digital audience and revenue. The development highlights the fragile relationship between sports and politics, particularly in the context of India-Pakistan ties, where cricket often becomes entangled in broader national sentiments.

Meanwhile, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season continues uninterrupted, with players paying their respects to the Pahalgam victims. Teams observed moments of silence and wore black armbands during matches, reflecting the deep sense of mourning across the country’s sporting community.
