In a thrilling moment during Match 32 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Delhi Capitals’ young opener Abhishek Porel showcased his batting brilliance by taking Rajasthan Royals’ pacer Tushar Deshpande to the cleaners in the second over of the innings. Porel plundered 23 runs off the over, sending the crowd into a frenzy and setting the tone for a strong DC innings.
Rajasthan Royals had won the toss and elected to bowl first, hoping to exploit the fresh pitch. However, Porel had other plans, taking full advantage of a wayward Deshpande over.

A full toss around knee-high onto the pads. Deshpande started with a delivery begging to be punished. Porel obliged by whipping it powerfully over mid-wicket. It was a regulation put-away shot that set the tone for what was to follow.

Full and angling away outside off stump. This time Porel went for an expansive slog and got a thick edge. The ball flew past third man, beating the fielder and racing to the boundary. Slightly lucky, but the intent was clear—he was going after everything.
1.3 – Six!
A length delivery on the pads. Deshpande tried to bring it back in, but the line was too straight. Porel picked it up beautifully and flicked it high and deep over the backward square leg fence. A clean, confident shot that had the crowd on its feet.
1.4 – Four!
A slower ball on a length outside off. Mixing things up, Deshpande took pace off the ball, but Porel was one step ahead. Waiting for it calmly, he opened the face of the bat and drove it behind point, bisecting the gap between backward point and cover with finesse.
1.5 – Four!
A shortish ball lacking pace. The pressure was clearly getting to Deshpande. A half-hearted short ball sat up nicely for Porel, who pulled it hard and wide of mid-wicket. Another boundary, and the Royals were clearly rattled.
1.6 – Single
A low full toss near the boots. Looking to finish with some damage control, Deshpande delivered a low full toss, which Porel nudged toward deep square leg for a single. It allowed him to retain the strike—and complete a staggering 23-run over.

Porel’s blazing cameo set the platform for Delhi Capitals early on.
