Harry’s unexpected visit to Ukraine has stirred tension within royal circles, leaving William “frustrated,” especially after being advised against making a similar trip.

The Duke of Sussex traveled to the city of Lviv last Thursday, where he met with injured Ukrainian soldiers. This move sparked criticism due to his past concerns over personal security in the UK without government-funded protection.

Meanwhile, sources suggest William was eager to show support with his own visit but was discouraged by palace officials, citing safety risks.

According to the Daily Mail, the future left “fuming” at Palace staff as he expressed dissatisfaction with the decision behind closed doors and now feels upstaged by his younger brother, who safely made the trip.

William, however, recently showed solidarity with British troops last month during a visit to NATO forces in Estonia.

Donning military gear and a beret, he toured a base near the Russian border, even climbing into a British tank. The visit was part of his duties as Colonel-in-Chief of the Mercian Regiment, which is preparing for a six-month deployment in the region.

For his visit to Ukraine, Harry reportedly departed the UK quietly without notifying Buckingham Palace and landed at an unnamed location in Poland.

From there, he received a police escort to the Ukrainian border and was accompanied by former Ukrainian military personnel to the Superhumans Center in Lviv, a rehabilitation clinic for civilians and soldiers wounded in the war.

During his unannounced visit, the Duke of Sussex spent time with both adults and children impacted by the ongoing conflict.

Images released later showed him warmly engaging with recovering soldiers and comforting visibly injured individuals, including a young child. The Duke sometimes appeared deeply emotional as he listened to their stories.

The visit, which only became public after Harry had safely left Ukraine, took place in a region regularly hit by Russian missile strikes.

The Duke was accompanied on this trip by members of the Invictus Games Foundation, including four veterans who have also undergone physical and emotional recovery from war-related injuries.

Harry returned from Ukraine with a special treat for his family called Easter Bread, which his wife, Meghan, posted about on social media, as she and their kids enjoyed the baked item.

The family quickly received a message from the Ukrainian Minister of Economy, Yulia Svyrydenko, thanking them for their support.

Svyrydenko wrote on X, “Your Royal Highness, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for everything that your family is doing for Ukraine and for helping us draw the world’s attention to humanitarian demining in Ukraine.”

She continued, “Demining will allow millions of displaced Ukrainians to return home, and allow thousands of children to go to school without fear. This means so very much to all of us! A remarkable group of women who live in the border region of Sumy, an area affected by landmines, have prepared this Easter bread for you and your family. Today, they, along with all of us, are deeply moved, knowing that this symbolic offering – Easter bread made from flour harvested from demined fields – will be on your table.”

The minister concluded her message, saying, “Thank you, from all Ukrainians, for your kindness and good-heartedness!”

Prince Harry Challenges UK Government Over Loss Of Police Protection In High Court

Harry’s visit to Ukraine followed a brief return to London, where he appeared in the High Court to contest the decision that he and Meghan Markle, and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are not entitled to automatic police protection when in the UK.

His legal team argued that the Duke and his family face significant security threats and should be granted full taxpayer-funded protection during UK visits.

Harry’s lawyers referenced previous threats, including one from Al Qaeda, that called for “the duke to be murdered,” to support the claim that his security needs are severe and exceptional.

Harry also argued that he was “singled out” for “inferior” and “unjust” treatment when the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC) downgraded his security status in 2020, shortly after he stepped back from royal duties.
