Fans react as Rajasthan Royals’ IPL 2025 campaign ends with crushing 100-run loss to Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians delivered a dominant all-round performance as they crushed Rajasthan Royals by 100 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. Batting first, MI piled on a massive 217/2, thanks to two blazing 48-run finishes from Suryakumar Yadav and skipper Hardik Pandya.
Openers Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma laid the perfect foundation with aggressive half-centuries. Rajasthan, in response, never found momentum and were reduced to 117/9 in 16 overs, ending their playoff hopes. Jasprit Bumrah (2/15) and Karn Sharma (3/23) decimated the RR middle and lower order. Jofra Archer fought a lone battle with 30 not out off 26 balls, but the asking rate of over 20 was always a bridge too far. This result ends RR’s Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 campaign and marks MI’s first win in Jaipur since 2012.
Mumbai Indians’ batting brilliance sets the tone
Mumbai started with attacking intent as Rickelton hammered 61 off 38 balls while Rohit controlled the powerplay with a fluent 53. The openers stitched a 116-run stand, taking on both pace and spin with ease. After their dismissal in quick succession, the momentum continued unabated as Suryakumar and Hardik unleashed mayhem. Both scored identical 48 not out off 23 balls, accelerating superbly at the death with 94 runs in the last 7.2 overs. Rajasthan’s bowlers had no answers as Fazalhaq Farooqi conceded 54, Maheesh Theekshana went for 47, and even Archer ended wicketless. MI’s aggressive running between the wickets and clean striking ensured they finished with 217/2, one of their highest totals this season. The Royals’ fielding also faltered under pressure, amplifying the dominance.
Rajasthan Royals’ collapse and IPL 2025 playoff exit
Chasing 218, Rajasthan suffered a disastrous start with three wickets inside four overs with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Nitish Rana all fell cheaply. Bumrah’s trademark precision and Trent Boult’s early swing ripped through the top order. Riyan Parag and Shubham Dubey briefly resisted, but Karn Sharma’s leg-spin broke the spine of the innings with a triple strike. Hetmyer departed for a golden duck, and impact player Dubey couldn’t capitalize either. With nine wickets down by the 12th over, only Jofra Archer stood tall, scoring an unbeaten 30 amid the wreckage. The lack of partnerships, poor shot selection, and inability to counter MI’s attack sealed their fate. RR’s net run rate nosedived, confirming their elimination alongside CSK. For Mumbai, this win revived their campaign with a strong NRR boost, reigniting playoff hopes.

There isn’t a weak link in this MI set up .. Bat till 8-9, seven bowling options – They’ve started late, it’s an odd year – The Old Mumbai Indians are out on display !! #RRvMI

Southgate must be traumatized watching RR bat.

Rahul Dravid’s note-book should be kept in Royals museum after the season, a case-study for teams how they shouldn’t play in the IPL. 😉

I don’t think Sangakkara is a great tactician as captain or coach but he’s far better than Dravid in T20 coaching
What Dravid has done in the past with Delhi and here with RR is shocking

Another fortress breached! MI last won in Jaipur in 2012!
They had not won a single title then.
A 100-run hammering from Mumbai. Well set up by the top four of MI.
They are now on top of the table with a healthy run rate. This IPL will have a crazy finish!#IPL2025

When MI starts performing, they look invincible like hardly any weakness, every other player contributing, dominates opponents like they’re some club teams.
