Ambati Rayudu slams Chennai Super Kings’ batting approach in the IPL 2025

Chennai Super Kings have tried six different players in the top four positions, but nothing has worked so far, and they have now lost six of their eight games in the ongoing IPL 2025.

Their struggles were clear once again in their IPL 2025 match against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.

CSK managed only 48 runs in the powerplay and reached just 103 by the 14th over. Even though Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube scored their first half-centuries of the season, the five-time IPL champions could only post 176/5 on the board against the Mumbai Indians.

Mumbai Indians make a mockery of CSK’s bowling attack

Later, the MI chased down the target inside 16 overs with nine wickets in hand against the CSK. Rohit Sharma played a remarkable knock of an unbeaten 76 runs off 45 balls, while Suryakumar Yadav shone with the unbeaten knock of 68 runs off 30 balls against Chennai in Mumbai.

After the embarrassing defeat against the MI, the former CSK batter pointed out that the team lacked energy and aggression, especially during crucial phases of the game, where they were taking singles and waiting for easy deliveries instead of trying to control the game.

Rayudu mentioned that the five-time IPL champions have not shown the same aggressive and fearless mindset that once made their batting dangerous in the tournament. He believes that it will be very difficult for them to turn things around.

CSK IPL 2025 playoff dreams in danger: Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu said on Star Sports in the post-match show, “It was below-par batting. There was no intent in the middle overs. You can’t play that way in T20s anymore. You are taking a single and waiting for a loose ball next.”

“That’s not the way. I felt there was no intent. People used to fear CSK’s batting because they used to come in with a lot of intent. They will have to step it up in the next few games.”

Looking at their pattern of slow scoring and six losses, the former Indian batter believes that CSK might find it difficult to recover and qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs. Rayudu signed off by saying, “I don’t see them coming back this season.”

Now, the bottom-ranked Chennai Super Kings will face another struggling team, Sunrisers Hyderabad, in their next IPL 2025 match on April 25 at the M. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. SRH has also won only two games from their seven outings in the tournament so far.
