Brittany Cartwright Reveals Jax Taylor Humiliated and Body-Shamed Her Throughout Their Marriage!
Brittany Cartwright is speaking out about the emotional toll her marriage to Jax Taylor took on her — and she’s not holding back.
On the April 22 episode of The Valley: After Show, Brittany, 36, opened up about the years of criticism and mistreatment she says she endured from her estranged husband, Jax Taylor, 45, particularly following the birth of their son, Cruz. “He would talk about my body all the time. I’ve got stretch marks from having his son. He would say that I looked like a tree trunk … He would say it in front of my friends,” Brittany recalled.
“And he never wanted me to vent to my friends, so he would try to make me feel like I don’t have any friends.”
Brittany went on to describe a pattern in Jax’s behavior, saying that while he praised her in public, things were very different at home. “[He] was horrible. He would go out to people and talk about how amazing I was in public and stuff, but then he would come home that very same day and tear me to pieces,” she said. “He was treating me so bad … I guess he wasn’t attracted to me anymore or something, and he, like, let me know it.”
Although she acknowledged some viewers criticize her for speaking out, Brittany pushed back on that sentiment. “I shouldn’t be blamed for the way he treated me,” she said.
Jax, however, denied making comments about Brittany’s appearance. “I’ve never, never, never in my life have ever called her fat. I would never, ever call her that,” he said in his own segment. “Have I said mean things? Of course … That’s gonna happen in any relationship. But as far as attacking her body, no, I love the way she looks.”
He also claimed there was a narrative being spun by Brittany’s friends. “Brittany’s got a big team behind her, she’s got a lot of girl power behind her, and they try to say things to fit their narrative,” Jax alleged.
Kristen Doute, however, wasn’t buying it. “I’ve seen it, I’ve read it, I’ve been there in person for years. I mean, literally right after she gave birth to Cruz, [Jax was] calling her fat, amongst, like, much worse ways to say it,” she said. Zack Wickham and Nia Sanchez backed up the claims, saying they had both witnessed Jax make disparaging comments about Brittany’s weight — even in front of her family.
Zack claimed Jax would say, “‘Get on a treadmill. Why aren’t you working out? You need to work out. You’re so fat.’” Brittany admitted that she often tried to ignore the comments to avoid conflict.
“I would just hold it in, hold it in, hold it in, and it was, like, really wearing on me. I was breaking out in hives. I was throwing up all the time. … I broke out in hives every day for an entire year,” she shared.
Her stress became so severe, she ended up hospitalized. “Remember when you broke out in hives and then the left side of your body was completely numb, you had to go to the hospital?” Lala Kent asked. “They said they couldn’t figure out anything that was wrong, other than stress, and I don’t do that anymore, and it’s because I don’t live with him anymore,” Brittany responded.
Lala added her own diagnosis of Jax’s behavior: “The narcissist does wonders when he’s on display.”
The Valley airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
