Fortnite’s Giant New Star Wars Season Will Let You Watch Tales of the Underworld Early

Fortnite, for better or worse, has become the video game mecca for cross-promotional events. We saw it back in 2019 when Star Wars unceremoniously announced that somehow Emperor Palpatine returned in a galaxy-wide broadcast explicitly housed in the battle royale before moviegoers received that information in the Rise of Skywalker opening title crawl. Now, Star Wars and Fortnite‘s upcoming event will let players check out the first two episodes of its forthcoming Disney+ animated series, Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld.

Earlier today, Fortnite’s official website posted a blog detailing all of the festivities it has in store for players throughout its first seasonal Star Wars event, Fortnite: Galactic Battle, starting May 2. There are honestly so many details thrown at players with daily events, rewards, and freebies if they connect their Epic and MyDisney accounts that it’s an info dump, overshadowing how to stream Tales of the Underworld for those who just want to watch some Star Wars early.

We’re strong with the Force, so we sussed out how to check out Tales of the Underworld for those looking for how to do that.

According to Fortnite, players can jump into the Star Wars Watch Party island May 2 at 10 a.m. ET. How you do so involves clicking the magnifying glass in the top left corner of the screen after logging in. Should that prove too much of a headache, you can also search for it using this code: 2124-6713-8076. What will transpire is something akin to a theater-in-the-park experience, only virtual, where players can engage in lightsaber battles (with no damage). At the same time, a giant screen shows them the first two episodes of the series, starring fan-favorite character Asajj Ventress.

Should watching the first few episodes of Tales of the Underworld inspire you and yours to give Fortnite‘s Star Wars collab a try, you’ll find yourself spoiled for choice with how many things the event will have for you to kill time, scour for new rewards, or trinkets. The core premise of Fortnite‘s latest Star Wars event sees the First Order take over its world and establish various bases for players to push back the baddies. Key among them are Darth Vader, Samurai, trading the volcanic wasteland of Mustafar for a Shogun’s palace.

Players can train with Palpatine, Rey, or Mace Windu and get their respective colored lightsabers, which allow you to move faster, jump higher, and not take fall damage should you have it equipped. Beyond mastering force techniques like pull, throw, and lightsaber toss, players can also pilot TIE Fighters, X-Wings, and Star Destroyers.

The event also offers players the chance to get skins for Storm Troopers, Poe Dameron, General Grievous, Palpatine, an original game character named Apprentice Evie, and a nightmare fuel-inducing Wookiee skin. Granted, most of these extras require having enough real-life credits to purchase Fortnite‘s Star Wars battle pass to reap the rewards, so players will have to search within their disposable income and plan accordingly.
