Rain Brown Breaks Silence After Burglary Arrest

Alaskan Bush People star Rain Brown is breaking her silence on her burglary arrest.
“It hurts my heart that my rainbows would choose to believe the lies that my old manager who stole $43,000 from me and abused me instead of maybe thinking ‘oh no who is saying this about Rain?’ not ‘wow what a waste,’” Brown claimed via Instagram on Monday, April 21. “It deeply hurts my heart. With all this said I hope y’all will stick around to hear my side of the story. God bless y’all.”
Brown, 22, and her husband Josiah Lorton were arrested in Washington State on Friday, April 11, Us Weekly previously confirmed. Brown, whose real name is Merry Christmas Kathryn Raindrop Brown, was charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree malicious mischief and second-degree criminal trespass. (Lorton, meanwhile, was charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree malicious mischief.)
Details of what led to the arrests haven’t been made public. Court records reveal that Brown and Lorton were released on Monday, April 14, on their own recognizance. Us reached out to the pair and the police for comment at the time.
Elsewhere in her Easter Sunday Instagram post, Brown shared a Bible verse, writing,“This is a bible verse i give it to y’all. ‘Judge not lest ye be judged. For with what judgment, ye judge, ye shall be judged.’”
Brown and her family starred in The Discovery Channel series Alaskan Bush People, which followed their lives in the wilderness as they often went months without seeing an outsider.
“Deep in the wilderness lives a family who, for the last thirty years, has lived in the wild,” The Discovery Channel said in a show synopsis. “For this family, sharing their front yard with some of the world’s most dangerous animals is just part of life.”
Brown was just 11 years old when the series debuted in 2014. The show had a long, 14-season run before concluding in 2022. The following year, Brown hard-launched her relationship with Lorton by sharing a PDA photo on Instagram.
“Cats outta the bag you guys! 😆💘,” she wrote in December 2023. “Ladies and gents my heart is TAKEN🥰 I had hopes that I would be able to do a grand reveal but the internet is a very fast place heehee.”
In January 2024, Brown confirmed via Instagram that she and Lorton had tied the knot.
“Baby, this is our world now 😘😎,” Brown shared at the time. “Yes. I’m married, y’all.”
A month before her arrest, Brown posted a fan photo that held special meaning to her.
“One of my favorite pictures of Josiah and I, this was actually from a fan picture which just goes to show you never know when some of your favorite moments will be,” she wrote via Instagram on March 3. “Stay adventurous my rainbows 🌈 and always remember God loves you #godisgood #truelove #staystrong #stayhappy #rainbrown #rainlorton #marriedlife #alaskanbushpeople #abp.”
